February Wrap Up

February is over and, although it’s the shortest month, it sure did feel long. We finished up basketball and began baseball and softball practices. Mardi Gras was February 21st so we hosted a gumbo party at the beginning of the month and gave king cakes and beads to the kid’s classes.

I plugged away at some more ARCs but also kept going with my challenges.

I started off the month with book number 2 in the St. Benedict series, River of Wrath. This one was way better than book 1 and I already can’t wait for the rest of the series. If you like spooky, this is for you. Check out my review here.

After that, I moved on to my book tour copy of Champagne Widows. Published in 2021, this historical fiction novel explores the origin of Veuve Cliquot Champagne. It was easily my favorite read of the month and you can see my review here.

Next up was an ARC of Defensive Hearts. Technically book 7 in the BTU Alumni series, this one left me wanting to rush off to read books 1-6. Girl Gang goals! You can see my review here.

Then, I completed my 12 challenge for the month, Mischief Night. This was a dark romance and made me realize that genre is not my thing but overall, it wasn’t too bad. I’d definitely like to try some more by the author because the writing was great, it was just the content that didn’t do it for me. You can see my review here.

Our 12 Classics in 12 months challenge read this month was Pride & Prejudice and I stuck with audio for this one. I think that the amount of characters is what confused me because, an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t really like this all that much. There, I said it. I still gave it a solid 3.5 though.

Next up was an ARC of Hard Feelings out March 7th. I really wanted to like this one because I could see that the author has potential, but it missed the mark for me.

Lastly, I snuck in a novella because I knew I wouldn’t finish another full book but wanted to squeeze one more in. I chose Stone Heart by Katee Robert because it was 81 pages and free on Kindle. It’s a sapphic prequel to Neon Gods and just meh. It was a rushed relationship and that’s not my jam.

I plugged away at my Daisy Jones re-read but since I’m trying to savor it, I didn’t quite finish for February. Nor did I finish Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, but both will be finished here shortly.
