March is over and it's on to chapter 4 of 2023. The busyness hit like a freight train this month since baseball is in full swing for the kids and the hubs. This Texas weather can't make up its mind so we've had days below freezing as well as days that are 88 degrees as it is as I type this. We had some fun too though! We went to the Dallas Arboretum, planted our garden, and spent time with friends at birthday parties and the zoo. Hubby and I took my dad and his girlfriend to see John Crist and the kids had a blast playing in the mud...until it was time to clean up!
I joined in on a few buddy reads and kept plugging away at my ARCs and challenges.
I started with the audio version of The Secret Garden. I love the movie as a child so I figured listening to it might be a better way to go about it. Audiobooks are just not for me. Although what I was able to pay attention to, I liked so solid 4 stars.
Next up was a buddy read of Gus with the girls I read Bright Side with. This is book number two in the series by Kim Holden and we all absolutely loved it. It wrecked me just like Bright Side did. You can see my 5-star review here.
I participated in a buddy read and watch of Daisy Jones & the Six. This was a re-read for me and is still a favorite of mine. Absolutely 5 stars if not more! The show is great too although they changed a lot.
Then, the Bright Side group decided to finish the series by reading book number 3, Franco. This one was so vastly different from the other two but still ok in its own right. You can see my mini-review here.
I decided to knock out my ARC Vacations Wars by Meghan Quinn which is releasing April 18th. I'm a huge Meghan Quinn fan but this one missed the mark for me. You can see my review posted on April 6th.
Next on the list was an ARC of The Third Baseman by Lulu Moore. I mean, it's baseball season, how perfect! There were a few things I was questioning the validity of but overall it was a great, quick read. You can see my review here.
I rounded out the month with a check off of my memoir challenge with Delete That by John Crist. My husband and I have now seen his live show twice and he leaves me hysterically laughing every time. That said, I struggled with the first bit of the book because it just seemed like he was ranting about social media and society so I put it down before we went to see him and picked it back up afterward and the book got so much better. I even teared up at one point.
I did DNF two books: the @samstacksbooksbookclub pick for March which was What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon. I'm not a time travel fan so I just couldn't do it. I hear it's great though! And then the girls I read Gus, Franco, and Daisy Jones with decided to try out The Final Revival of Opal and Nev and it just got too politically correct and technical for me. I'm learning it's OK to DNF.
Overall, a successful month and I can't wait to get started on my next reads!
